Phil has a deep passion for creating connections. That’s why he ended up founding two major annual conferences for digital retailers on opposite sides of the world—Australia’s Internet Conference and the United States’ Retail Global conference. Hosting conferences allows him to bring creative minds from around the world together to share their stories. And when they do, meaningful change happens.
As the founder and managing director of Retail Global, a big part of his day is spent recruiting smart, talented speakers. He hears 100+ speakers each year and loves finding people who can convey critical information to our industry in powerful ways that inspire audiences.
He also spends significant time working with leaders in the retail world—helping them identify the big and small trends that will make the biggest impact. In addition to running the day–to-day responsibilities that come with hosting two conferences on different continents, he also manage a small team of incredibly dedicated conference organizers. He places a lot of trust in his team. He is a firm believer that greatness comes from going against the grain, and he makes sure his team isn’t afraid to innovate.
When organizing the conferences, he puts his retail shoes on and focus intensely on what attendees need most—information on the actionable steps they most need to improve their business. So he’s constantly working to:
• create collaboration between retailers and their customers
• educate others about what’s coming next
• connect the world
When he’s not traveling around the world, listening and learning at conferences, you’ll often find him lawn bowling—it’s big in Australia. It takes so much concentration that it’s a fun escape.
Event Manager, Retail Global
Luke has recently joined the Retail Global team having previously organised oil and gas events throughout Australia, Europe, USA and the Middle East. He brings over 10 years experience in event management and a real passion for all things events.
Live Sound Engineer and Production Manager
David comes to the Retail Global Team following a 30-year international career in live sound production and as an Academy Award Nominee.
David has been involved as an audio post-production supervisor, musical supervisor, sound supervisor and sound designer on more than 50 feature films, documentaries and television series.
As a studio manager, record producer and engineer, David has worked with the likes of Paramount, Sony, Universal, Capitol Records, Abbey Road and David Gilmour.
As a live sound engineer and production manager, David has worked all around the world with the likes of U2, Mötley Crüe, John Farnham and Sting.
Operations Manager, Retail Global
Emma Scullion, a proud Irish/English girl, attended Salford University – Manchester, on a Business degree.
After University Emma worked for a large Telecommunications company as a Compliance Manager for 7 years. Not happy with the English weather, Emma decided to up roots and travel to Australia in pursuit of sunnier dreams. It was there she met a keen bowler by the name of Phil who ran a conference and the rest is history as they say.
Emma joined the Retail Global team in March as an Operations Manager and enjoys the dynamic and exciting challenges it presents, not to mention the travel!
Human Relations, Retail Global
Willow is a self taught master of obedience and comes from a long line of Weimaraner’s who were also masters of their trade.
Willow is a German dog living the Australian dream and joined Retail Global 3 years ago. A self confessed foodie, willow has a big appetite and an even bigger heart which won her the role of Human Relations here at Retail Global headquarters.
She loves all things exciting and can be found in her spare time, chasing birds, going for long walks and lounging in the sun.
